The email is still unsubstantiated.
(Vevay, Ind.) - Switzerland County Schools were among several Indiana schools, as well as multiple other states that received a non-specific email threat.
According to Superintendent Rod Hite, the email did not specify any Switzerland County schools.
"Out of an abundance of caution, we immediately implemented secure building protocols, bringing all students and staff indoors and restricting campus access. State law enforcement agencies have indicated initial signs show the email sent originated out of state. We will maintain enhanced security measures for the remainder of the school day," Hite said.
Hite added that the safety and well-being of students and staff remain the highest priority.
The email is still unsubstantiated. Extra patrols will continue on school grounds throughout the day for safety.
It is believed that approximately 100 schools received the email threat.
