(Versailles, Ind.) - Food Service Director Farrah McCraken and cafeteria workers were recognized by the South Ripley School Board on Monday night.
They were honored for providing over 25,000 meals to students in South Ripley's Summer Food Service Program.
The Summer Food Service Program (SFSP) is a federally funded initiative that aims to ensure that children receive nutritious meals when school is out.
In Indiana, this program has been operational for nearly 50 years, providing meals at over 1,000 locations statewide, including parks, community centers, schools, and churches.
The program is designed for children aged 18 and under, particularly those from low-income families.
Families do not need to apply for the meals; they can simply visit designated meal sites to receive food
