(Jennings County, Ind.) - Indiana State Police responded to a single vehicle crash in southern Jennings County on Tuesday around 4:00 p.m.

The initial investigation indicated that a 2024 Mazda passenger vehicle, driven by Tyler Wells, was traveling eastbound on County Road 400 South, approaching State Road 3.

For an unknown reason, Wells lost control of the vehicle and left the south side of the roadway before striking a tree.

Wells, 20, was pronounced deceased at the scene.

The intersection of State Road 3 and County Road 400 South was closed for nearly four hours for crash investigation and cleanup.

The investigation remains ongoing although speed is believed to have been a factor in the crash.
