(Ohio County, Ind.) - A Rising Sun man was killed in a two-vehicle crash on Salem Ridge Road.

Indiana State Police responded to the crash near Poor House Hill Road on Tuesday morning.

The initial investigation indicated that a red 2018 Polaris Ranger UTV driven by Leo Philpot, 63, of Vevay, was traveling westbound on Salem Ridge Road and attempted to make a left turn into a field when a trailing vehicle entered the eastbound lane and attempted to pass Philpot's vehicle.

Indiana State Police identified the driver of the trailing vehicle as Alexander Lynn, 35, of Vevay.

The impact of the crash pushed the UTV off the side of the road, causing it to overturn. Brandon Foutty, a passenger in the UTV, was partially ejected from the vehicle. He was transported to St. Elizabeth Dearborn where he was pronounced dead.

Foutty was 34.

Philpot was also injured in the accident. His injuries are non-life-threatening. Lynn was not injured.

Toxicology results are pending.
