(Ripley County, Ind.) - The chairman of the Ripley County Democratic Party has died.
David “Hap” Chandler died on Saturday, April 27 at River Terrace Health Campus in Madison, according to his obituary. The lifelong Cross Plains resident was 78.
Chandler was chairman of the Ripley County Democratic Party for seven years.
In addition to being a local political leader, Chandler was also a founding member of the Laughery Valley Fish and Game Club, vice president of Local 561 Chemical Workers Union for a number of years, Madison Moose Lodge for 33 years and American Legion Post #292 for 34 years. He was a commissioned Kentucky Colonel.
Visitation is Tuesday, April 30 from 4:00 until 8:00 p.m. at Morgan & Nay Funeral Centre in Madison.
Services for Chandler will take place Wednesday at 11:00 a.m. at Cross Plains Church of Christ. Another short visitation will precede the service starting at 10:00 a.m.
Chandler is survived by his wife of 60 years Anita, son Jeff Chandler, sisters, brothers, grandsons, and other family.
