Grants were awarded to six organizations throughout the county.

(Ripley County, Ind.) - In the second quarter of 2024, the Ripley County Community Foundation awarded approximately $3,000 dollars in grants to local organizations in the community. These grants are crucial to many different organizations and parts of the community, as the grants help pay for food, supplies, and other items that are important to these organizations. Not only this, but they are also extremely important to students and kids in need. All grant recipients for the second quarter small grants received $500 to help with their projects.

Tyson Library Association- The Tyson Library Association plans to use their grant to remove an old water fountain and replace it with one that includes a water bottle filling station.

Friends of Batesville Memorial Public Library- The Friends of Batesville Memorial Public Library were in need of additional shelving for books, due to a mandatory move out of their original location. The shelving that they currently have is too tall for their new location, this grant will go towards getting new shelving for their books.

Napoleon Volunteer Fire Department- The Napoleon Volunteer Fire Department is going to use their grant funds to aid in the purchase of a rescue saw. The Napoleon Volunteer Fire Department has never had their own rescue saw, and because of that they have had to rely on other department for their rescue saws. By purchasing their own saw, they will be able to more quickly respond to calls that may require a rescue saw.

Ripley County Dept of Parks & Recreation- The Ripley County Department of Parks & Recreation is going to use their grant to assist in the funding of reinforcing support beams in their hog barn. Many of the beams have rotted off of the base, by replacing them they will be able to provide a safe structure for both the public, and 4H to use during their events.

So Loved Ripley County Foster Closet- The So Loved Ripley County Foster Closet was seeking funding to help fill some of their empty shelves. Currently, they are very low on certain items, such as boys socks, underwear, and lots of different shoes. This grant will help in purchasing these items, they have found when kids have enough of these items that they perform better in school.

Summer Food For Kids- The Summer Food For Kids program is anticipating 65 families for 2024. This grant will help aid in the purchase of certain food items, such as potatoes for the family meal prep kit.

Upcoming grant opportunities available through the Ripley County Community Foundation are the third and fourth quarter Small Project Grants (up to $1,000) with applications due the first Friday of September, or December;. Visit https://rccfonline.org/grants/ for more information and applications.
