Phone Scam Reported In Rising Sun

Rising Sun Municipal Utilities customers are being targeted.

(Rising Sun, Ind.) - A phone scam has been reported in Rising Sun. 

According to Rising Sun Municipal Utilities, several customers have received phone calls regarding unpaid utility bills. The scammers are stating they are from Duke Energy and that the customers utilities will be shut off if they don't call an an "800" number immediately. 

In addition, the scammers are telling Rising Sun Municipal Utilities customers that the company is a division of Duke Energy in order to get you to call the "800" number. 

Rising Sun Municipal Utilities customers are advised to not give out any personal or banking information over the phone. 

If you receive a scam call, please contact local law enforcement.
