(Brookville, Ind.) - The Franklin County Sheriff's Department have received several reports from citizens reporting scam phone calls.

The scammers are calling, sometimes cloning the Sheriff's Department phone number, claiming to be with the Sheriff's Department. Among the reports, the scammers are telling the recipients that they have a warrant, missed a court hearing, have outstanding fines, or failed to register as a sex offender.

Sheriff's deputies will not call and ask for any form of payment over the telephone.

Do not provide them any personal or banking information, and do not send gift cards.

If you receive these scam calls, or suspect a call is a scam, please hang up and contact our office at 765-647-4138 to speak with a deputy.
