Perfect North's Mud-Stash Expecting 3,000 Muddy People

(Lawrenceburg, Ind.) – Bring a change of clothes if you take part in the Mud-Stash at Perfect North Slopes this weekend. You’re going to need them. You had better include a fresh pair of shoes, too. The ones you wear in the obstacle course race will probably be caked in muck. The 13th edition of the Mud-Stash happens at the snow skiing area on Saturday, June 3. The event has grown since the first event in 2011, now regularly attracting around 3,000 mud runners of all ages to Lawrenceburg. “We have a great turnout locally, but we also have a little bit of a regional draw. And then, of course, our friends from Anytime Fitness bring a whole bunch of their members out. There are over 850 of them signed up so far,” says Tim Doll with Perfect North Slopes. There are two courses: one is four miles and shorter, family-friendly version is about 1 1/2 miles. Both include a bevy of obstacles such as mud crawls, wall climbing and rappelling, swinging bridges, a lily pad water crossing, and a mud slide. “There are a few new things. Some rolling mud pits that are sure to get you slimy and nasty and falling down in the mud and covered in dirt. So it’ll be a good time,” Doll says. File photo. Perfect North Slopes will also host a Spartan Race – a more elite version of a mud and obstacle course run – again this July. Doll says the MudStash is a great preview and way to train for the event. The forecast should be perfect for mud lovers with a 40 percent chance of rain in the forecast Saturday. “The muddier the better. The more rain the better. We have nice, hot shower trailers at the finish line,” says Doll. Spectating is almost as fun as running the course. People are welcome to view the competitors from the ski lodge deck. Tickets for the Mud-Stash can be purchased online at www.PerfectNorth.com. Tickets start at $75 for the four-mile course for ages 10 and up. The 1 ½-mile course for ages 7 and up can be entered for $50 per person. Groups of 10 or more receive $10 off admission. Another event has become synonymous with the Mud-Stash. The 3rd annual Bash Before the Stash will be held Friday, June 2 at the Lawrenceburg Event Center. The banquet and silent auction will benefit Safe Passage, Inc., a domestic violence victims’ shelter serving southeastern Indiana.
