The project will require lane closures.

(Batesville, Ind.) - The Indiana Department of Transportation (INDOT) in partnership with the City of Batesville announces an upcoming pedestrian facility improvement project to begin on or after Monday, April 27, in Batesville.
The project will take place on State Road 229 between Franklin Street and Six Pine Ranch Road. Improvements include the installation of new sidewalks and the rehabilitation of existing pedestrian facilities.
During the project, northbound and southbound S.R. 229 will be reduced to one lane. Eastbound and westbound I-74 will also be reduced to one lane under the S.R. 229 overpass.
This project is part of a $2.7 million contract awarded to Morphey Construction in July 2025. Construction is expected to be complete in November 2026, weather permitting.
INDOT reminds drivers to slow down, use extra caution, and avoid distractions when traveling in and near work zones. All work is weather-dependent and schedules are subject to change.
