Parade, Ceremony Planned For Pfc. Bondurant

Pfc. Brett Bondurant

(Lawrenceburg, Ind.) – Army Pfc. Brett Bondurant will receive a well-deserved hero’s welcome when he returns home for the first time since being injured in Afghanistan.

 

Details have been announced for a parade and ceremony to honor Bondurant, who will return home to Greendale for the holidays on December 17. He has been rehabilitating at Fort Sam Houston in San Antonio, Texas since the injury.

 

Monday, December 19 will be Brett Bondurant Day in Lawrenceburg. A convocation for the soldier will be held at Lawrenceburg High School, his alma mater, at 2:00 p.m. where he may speak.

 

The ceremony will be followed by a parade through downtown Lawrenceburg beginning around 4:00 p.m. A parade route is planned from the high school to Walnut Street, a right onto Center Street, and a right onto Front Street.

 

The parade will end at the Lawrenceburg American Legion Post #239 where a meet and greet will be held until about 8:00 p.m.

Bondurant lost both his legs when an improvised explosive device detonated amidst his unit during a patrol in Afghanistan on September 28. Other troops died or were injured in that same blast.

 

The Purple Heart recipient celebrated his 21st birthday Monday.
