(Hebron, Ky.) - A Hebron man is criminally charged for causing a serious intoxicated driving crash in Burlington last October.

Boone County Sheriff’s investigators said Lawrence Giovanni, 47, was driving at over 100 MPH when his vehicle hit another car on Burlington Pike at McGrath Lane. The wreck put five people in the hospital: Giovanni, three passengers in his car, and the driver of the other vehicle.

The impact was so forceful that it separated the engine from the second vehicle.

A Boone County grand jury has indicted Giovanni on charges of Assault, OWI, and three counts of Wanton Endangerment.

He was arrested earlier this week. He is out of the Boone County Detention Center after posting bond.
