Single lane closures scheduled for tonight on I-275 eastbound and westbound within the project area.
(Petersburg, Ky.) - As part of the work needed to complete the Carroll Cropper zone painting project, on Tuesday, April 14, there will be a single lane closure on I-275 eastbound and westbound within the project area.
These lane closures will be in place from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m. All lanes reopen by 6 a.m.
This additional lane closure is needed for the contractor to remove rigging and platforms from under the bridge.
This zone painting project is aimed at ensuring the 1970s bridge remains open and safe for commuters to use for years to come and minimize future maintenance needs. Crews are painting in areas where steel repairs took place from December 2024 through December 2025.
This work will protect against corrosion, particularly in vulnerable areas such as floor beams and beneath joints, where paint has deteriorated.
The zone painting project is progressing as the contractor, Southern Road & Bridge, LLC, works extended hours seven days a week.
The contractor is anticipating that the remaining work will continue into May.
