The U.S. Bank on the 200 block of Walnut Street was held up by a man around 12:40 Wednesday afternoon. The suspect did not show a weapon, but got away with an undisclosed amount of money. The robbery prompted a manhunt in downtown Lawrenceburg, in which multiple local agencies participated - resulting in the suspect being taken into custody. The suspect, identified as Randy Scott Bryant, Jr., was arrested Wednesday night. The 29-year-old from Osgood is held in jail at the Dearborn County Law Enforcement Center on charges including Robbery (level 5 felony), Conspiracy to Commit Robbery (level 5 felony), Theft $750 to $50,000 (level 6 felony), and Possession of Paraphernalia (class A misdemeanor). Local residents were quick to help identify Bryant following the robbery thanks to well taken surveillance photos. U.S. Bank had offered up to a $10,000 reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the suspect. This is far from Bryant’s first time running afoul of the law. In 2009, he was convicted of Dealing in a Narcotic Drug and ordered to serve a five-year prison sentence, according to Indiana Department of Corrections records. He was released in 2010, but was sent back to prison for 2 ½ years for violating his probation for that case after a Theft and Criminal Mischief arrest and conviction in 2012. He was arrested this past January for an alleged violation of a home detention program. Dearborn County jail records further indicate Bryant was arrested in 2005 for Minor Possession of Alcohol. In 2006, Bryant was booked for for Criminal Mischief, Public Intoxication, Disorderly Conduct, and Minor Possession. The Lawrenceburg Police Department extends their thanks to the community, the Dearborn County Sheriff's Department, the Dearborn County Special Crimes Unit, the Greendale Police Department, the Aurora Police Department, and the Indiana Gaming Commission for their assistance with the investigation.
