One Killed In U.S. 52 Crash In Franklin Co.

The accident happened Saturday afternoon near State Road 1.

(Franklin County, Ind.) – A Connersville man was killed in a head-on crash in Franklin County over the weekend.

Franklin County Sheriff’s deputies responded to the crash on U.S. 52 near State Road 1 on Saturday around 2:37 p.m.

Deputies say James T. Waldron, 75, of Connersville, was traveling westbound on U.S. 52 when his vehicle went left of center and collided with an eastbound vehicle driven by Brian K. Defossett, 52, of Brookville.

Waldron was pronounced dead at the scene. Defossett was transported to a nearby hospital for treatment of injuries sustained in the crash. His condition was not released.

Investigators say they are unsure what caused Waldron’s vehicle to travel left of center before the crash occurred.

The Franklin County Sheriff’s Department was assisted at the scene by Brookville Police, St. Leon Police, Cedar Grove and Brookville Fire Departments, Cedar Grove EMS and Responder 24.
