(Oldenburg, Ind.) - Area middle school students get a feel for the high school experience by attending Oldenburg Academy’s on-campus summer program. Nearly 160 students will participate in the athletic, arts, and science programs offered at OA in June and July. From archery, chess and STEM to creative arts, dance, and athletics, each camp offers participants the opportunity to build their skills and explore the beautiful campus.

Molly Freeland, Director of Admissions at Oldenburg Academy, organizes the summer camps each year. "Our summer camps not only engage students in exciting learning experiences but also introduce them to our school's vibrant community and scenic campus,” Freeland said. “It's wonderful to see young minds and talents flourish here."

OA’s faculty and alumni develop and lead the camps. Math teacher David Jensen teaches both an archery course and a chess course. During Archery camp, students learn essential safety practices, range rules, scoring techniques, and archery etiquette. At Chess camp, students create their own chess piece using a 3-D printer while honing their chess game strategies.

OA alumni Jill Hollins leads the STEM camp where students explore engineering challenges and learn about the drone technology used in agriculture. The hands-on experience provides a dynamic environment to develop problem-solving skills.

Under the guidance of Theresa Murphy, OA's Creative Arts camp inspires budding artists to explore various mediums, including printmaking and watercolors. The campus location with ample flower gardens tended by the Sisters of St. Francis provides a picturesque backdrop for artistic expression.

Finally, Dance Instructor Katie Lake leads a Dance camp which focuses on technique, conditioning, and the joy of movement. The camp welcomes both newcomers and experienced dancers alike, including the Leap of Faith dance club.

Sports camps including volleyball, basketball, and soccer camps are held throughout the month of July and are hosted by OA’s varsity and junior varsity coaches.

Principal Angie Parmer enjoys seeing the young faces on campus all summer. “Our summer camps are a great opportunity for our community. With the extensive diversity of options, there really is something offered for every student. The staff involved in our camps do an amazing job of engaging our young learners. It is so fun to witness the energy they bring to campus,” Parmer siad. “Summer at Oldenburg Academy is a beautiful time to be on campus.”
