The victim was repairing his tree stand

(Switzerland County, Ind.) - Indiana Conservation Officers are investigating a tree stand accident that occurred Friday in Switzerland County.
At approximately 12:00 p.m., officers and emergency personnel responded to the area near the 14000 block of Westerkamm Lane.
Upon arrival, officers determined that Luther Hull, 74, of Fairfield, Ohio, had been attempting to repair his tree stand when he fell approximately 21 feet. Hull was not wearing a full-body safety harness at the time of the fall.
He was airlifted to University of Cincinnati Health with serious bodily injuries. The incident remains under investigation.
Conservation Officers remind hunters using elevated platforms to always wear a full-body safety harness, use a tree stand safety rope, avoid installing or removing tree stands alone, and thoroughly inspect tree stands before climbing.
