The ornament celebrates Dolly Parton's Imagination Library.

(Ohio County, Ind.) - The Ohio County Community Foundation (OCCF) was recently asked to submit an ornament to the Statehouse in celebration of Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library community partners throughout Indiana.

The invitation was extended by First Lady Maureen Braun to all community partners and is being facilitated by the Hoosier Hope Foundation. The ornament will be displayed on the tree in the Statehouse representing Ohio County.

Local artist and Rising Sun/Ohio County Community School Corporation Art Teacher, Amberly King put the Foundations’ vision to paint. The 6-inch unbreakable ornament has the famous “Coat of Many Colors” painted around the entire ornament. It also displays the OCCF Logo, County Number, 58 and town name, Rising Sun. A photo will be taken of each ornament and displayed by the tree so that visitors from each county can find theirs.

The Imagination Library provides children age 0 to 5 with a new book, at no cost. A child enrolled in Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library will receive a new, age-appropriate book mailed in their name directly to their home. The child can look forward to a new reading adventure each month until the child turns five years old. Parents/Guardians can register their child online at www.imaginationlibrary.com for the program in their county of residence.

Ohio County paper registration forms can be picked up at the Foundation office or at the Ohio County Public Library. Once the form is complete, please return it to the Foundation office located at 330 Industrial Access Drive or mail it to P.O. Box 170, Rising Sun, IN 47040.
