Ohio County Community Foundation Celebrates Give Like Dolly Day

The annual global day of giving is celebrated on September 25

(Rising Sun, Ind.) - Today, the Ohio County Community Foundation is celebrating the people who #GiveLikeDolly.

Give Like Dolly Day is an annual global day of giving celebrated on September 25, a playful nod to her hit song “9 to 5”- dedicated to supporting local Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library programs and childhood literacy.

Today, in support of this initiative, read to the child in your life for nine minutes or perform nine random acts of kindness in honor of Dolly.

"To everyone who has donated, volunteered, spread the word, partnered with us or simply believes every child should have books of their own: thank you. Because of you, 134 children in Ohio County receive a free book every month through Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library. Your generosity helps bring the joy of reading into homes, spark imaginations and create special moments between children and the people who love them. Dolly often called her Local Imagination Library Partners the “true heroes” of her program. We’re so grateful to have a community that continues that spirit of giving. Thank you for helping us carry on Dolly's legacy by giving back to the children Ohio County," reads a statement from the Ohio County Community Foundation.
