Ohio Back-to-School Sales Tax Holiday Runs Through Sunday

Select items are exempt from sales and use tax.

(Columbus, Oh.) – Ohio’s back-to-school sales tax holiday is underway.

During the holiday, the following items are exempt from sales and use tax:

  • An item of clothing priced at $75 or less;
  • An item of school supplies priced at $20 or less; and
  • An item of school instructional material priced at $20 or less

The discount applies to purchases made in-store and online

The back-to-school sales tax holiday runs Friday, August 5 through Sunday, August 7. 

“I encourage all Ohioans to take advantage of this tax-free weekend,” said Governor Mike DeWine.
