NWS Issues Excessive Heat Watch

The watch goes into effect Sunday afternoon.

(Wilmington, Oh.) - Today is the first official day of Summer and it comes with an Excessive Heat Watch. 

The National Weather Service has issued the Excessive Heat Watch for the tri-state area from Sunday afternoon through Tuesday evening. 

Hot conditions are expected with heat index values up to 104 possible. 

Sunday through Tuesday Forecast

  • Sunday: Sunny, high 94
  • Monday, Sunny, high 94
  • Tuesday: Sunny, high 94

Heat related illnesses increase significantly during extreme heat and high humidity events, particularly for those working or participating in outdoor activities. 

The NWS advises individuals to drink plenty of fluids, stay in air-conditioned rooms, stay out of the sun, and check up on relatives and neighbors.
