A woman died in the crash on U.S. 50 near the Ripley-Jennings county line Monday morning.

(Jennings County, Ind.) - A woman from North Vernon died in a crash on U.S. 50 at the Ripley-Jennings county line Monday morning.

Two pickup trucks going opposite directions on U.S. 50 sideswiped each other just after 6:30 a.m., says the Jennings County Sheriff’s Department. The pickups were driven by Brittany Comer, 27, of Holton, and Jason Hamm, 41, of Brownstown.

After the initial impact, Comer’s Dodge pickup veered into the opposite lane and struck head-on an eastbound 2014 Ford Focus driven by Michelle Hoover, 44, of North Vernon. The Focus came to a stop on top of a guardrail. The pickup ended in the eastbound lane.

Hoover was pronounced dead at the scene.

Comer was hospitalized with minor injuries, while Hamm was not hurt.

Jennings County Sheriff’s deputies are continuing to investigate that deadly crash.
