(Boone County, Ky.) - The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet (KYTC) advises motorists of a resurfacing project on a portion of North Bend Road (KY 237) in Boone County beginning Monday, Aug. 18.
Crews will be resurfacing North Bend Road beginning just south of Petersburg Road (KY 20) (9.21 mile point) extending just north of Coral Drive (10.0 mile point), a distance of 0.79 miles.
On Monday, Aug. 18 and Tuesday, Aug. 19, crews will perform base failure repairs in the project area between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. Motorists should expect a single lane closure during working hours.
Once base failure repairs have cured, milling and paving operations will tentatively begin on Tuesday, Aug. 26. To limit traffic disruptions, this portion of the project will take place during the evening/overnight hours of 7 p.m. to 6 a.m. KYTC will advise on our District 6 Roadshow when milling and paving operations officially begin.
Riegler Blacktop Inc. is contracted to perform the $430,646 project on behalf of KYTC. Weather permitting, the project is expected to be completed Oct. 15, 2025.
This project is the first of two resurfacing projects taking place on North Bend Road this year. The second project, from Golf Club Drive extending north to just south of Petersburg Road will consist of a different type of surface application called Thinlay.
Thinlays are used as a pavement preservation treatment to restore surface conditions and extend the service life of roads that are still structurally sound. KYTC will provide an official release ahead of the second project beginning.
Project schedules are subject to change due to inclement weather or other unforeseen circumstances.
