At approximately 9:56 a.m., the Boone County Sheriff’s Office apprehended a suspect. The suspect was using the school’s parking lot as a cut-through to a nearby neighborhood.
Lock down was then lifted and all normal school operations resumed.

(Walton, Ky.) - The Walton-Verona Independent School District issued a shelter-in-place protocol as a precautionary measure due to reports of a suspicious individual on school property.
The shelter-in-place was issued at 8:36 a.m. at the Walton campuses.
All students and staff are safe and secure inside the building, according to district administrators.
"We are working closely with local authorities and will notify you as soon as the situation is resolved and normal operations resume. Please do not come to the school at this time, as access is restricted," reads a statement from the school district.
