(Boone County, Ky.) – Multiple crashes shut down the northbound lanes of I-71/I-75 in Boone County on Monday night.

According to the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet, the first crash took place just after 7:00 p.m. near the Richwood Road exit. This two-vehicle accident shut down all northbound lanes and the left and right shoulder for approximately three hours.

A second crash took place just before 9:00 p.m. just north of the Walton exit, which closed all lanes and both shoulders. The Boone County Sheriff’s Office remained on scene for many hours investigating the crash.

The cause of both crashes remains under investigation.

Due to light snow that fell on Monday and close to freezing temperatures, the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet reminded motorists to drive carefully on bridges and overpasses as they are prone to freeze first.
