More Layoffs Feared At Aurora Casket Plant

By Mike Perleberg Photo via AuroraCasket.com. (Aurora, Ind.) - There are layoffs rumored at Matthews International’s casket manufacturing plant in Aurora - formerly Aurora Casket. Multiple employees tell Eagle Country 99.3 that about 40 employees are due to be laid off near the end of this month. A spokesperson for Matthews International declined to comment on the rumored layoffs Friday. It’s the most recent layoff announcement from the company since Pennsylvania-based Matthews International purchased Aurora Casket in 2015. In a July 27 news release announced earnings for the fiscal 2017 third quarter, Matthews noted that the integration of Aurora Casket remains on track.
