Moneymaker To Appear At Hollywood Poker Open

Press release from Hollywood Casino

(Lawrenceburg, Ind.) - Penn National Gaming is pleased to announce that it will begin the second season of the Hollywood Poker Open (HPO) tournament series at Hollywood Casino Lawrenceburg on Friday, Nov. 15, 2013.

On the heels of the first successful HPO Championship Event, which culminated this past June at the M Resort Spa & Casino, Penn National Gaming (PNG) is continuing with season 2, attracting poker players from across the world to compete for the HPO title and a piece of the $500,000 guaranteed  prize pool.

Last season, PNG sent over 200 qualifiers from 21 of their properties to compete at the M for a chance at the big prize. The day of the event saw over 400 players register for the tournament, increasing the field to over 600 players, which boosted the prize pool to $1,400,000.

This season, the first Regional 10-day series will be held in Lawrenceburg, Indiana at Hollywood Casino from Friday, Nov. 15 to Monday, Nov. 25. At least two of the tournaments in this series will qualify players for seats at the 2014 HPO Championship Event. The Championship Event will be returning to the M Resort Casino & Spa in late June 2014.

The man who started the rebirth of poker 10 years ago and one of the most recognizable faces in poker, 2003 World Series of Poker Champion Chris Moneymaker, is serving as the HPO ambassador, and will play in the regional event at Lawrenceburg.
