(Milan, Ind.) - Milan High School band has been challenging area schools for many years to support local food pantries.
This holiday season, both Milan selected the Lawrenceburg High School band to a friendly competition to see who can collect the most canned food items for their local food pantry.
During Milan’s Christmas concert, they offered $1 off a ticket if a person brought in three canned food items. This encouraged parents and others to donate to the cause.
Milan band ended with a total of 960 canned food items that were delivered to St. Paul Lutheran Church in Sunman. Lawrenceburg band raised a total of 186 canned food items. This ended with the total being 1,146 canned food items raised between the bands.
Milan Band will keep the trophy for “Battle of the Bands Food Drive” this year. Next year, band director Stefani Bedel, will chose to challenge another surrounding school to a fight for canned food items.
