(New Castle, Ind.) - A third member of the legendary 1954 Milan High School basketball team will be inducted as an individual to the Indiana Basketball Hall of Fame. Roger Schroder was a senior on the Indians team when they beat big Muncie Central in the state championship game. Schroder was named among the 2015 inductees of the hall of fame on Tuesday, joining fellow Milan ’54 teammates Ray Craft and Bobby Plump. Craft was inducted in 1991 and Plump – who hit the famous buzzer-beating  jump shot in Milan’s 32-30 championship game victory – in 1981. The 1954 Milan team was inducted in 2004. According to the hall of fame announcement, Schroder was a three-sport athlete at Franklin College following his Milan days. Schroder then embarked on a 31-year teaching and coaching career in Indianapolis Public Schools that included 19 years as head coach at John Marshall High School and three seasons as head coach at Broad Ripple.  His teams won 258 games and three sectional championships. Schroder is now retired and residing in Indianapolis. The indication ceremony and banquet happens in New Castle, Indiana next March 25. Perhaps not so coincidentally, the induction class will be the hall of fame’s 54th.
