(Versailles, Ind.) - The Versailles community must say goodbye to a beloved resident known for her love of God, education, music, and her family.

Mary Margaret Moorhead Clegg died on Saturday, April 21. She was 90.

Moorhead Clegg taught at Versailles and South Ripley schools for 38 years, retiring in 1991. She and her late first husband, Gus Moorhead, were awarded Indiana’s coveted Sagamore of the Wabash distinctions by former Governor Evan Bayh. Moorhead Clegg was once named the Ripley County Citizen of the Year by the local chamber of commerce.

Moorhead Clegg's visitation takes place Tuesday, April 24 at Versailles Baptist Church. Final services will be held Wednesday.

Mary Margaret is survived by her husband of the last seven years Robert Clegg; daughters Mary Helen Moorhead, Janet Jo Moorhead, Jane Ellen Rogers; son Robert Moorhead; her grandchildren, great-grandchildren; and many others.

The family has asked that memorial contributions be made to Versailles Baptist Church, the American Cancer Society, or the Ripley County Community Foundation for the Moorhead Scholarship Fund.
