Man Almost Drowned At Brookville Lake Beach

The near-drowning happened Monday at Mounds Beach.

(Brookville, Ind.) - A 21-year-old man nearly drowned at Brookville Lake on Memorial Day.

Indiana Conservation Officers say the victim, Fernando Julian of Shelbyville, had been submerged in the water at the Mounds Beach about 2:30 yesterday.

Julian was under for about 15 minutes before being pulled from the water by other swimmers. CPR was conducted and EMTs continued medical treatment after arriving at the scene. Julian was then flown to University of Cincinnati Medical Center.

His current condition is not known, conservation officers said, but he was conscious and breathing when he was airlifted.

The incident is still under investigation.

Blooming Grove Fire Department, Brookville EMS, and Franklin County Sheriff's deputies were on scene to assist Indiana Conservation Officers.
