Longtime Rising Sun Elementary Assistant Principal Passes Away

(Rising Sun, Ind.) – The Rising Sun and surrounding communities are mourning the death of a longtime educator.

Patricia Huff passed away on Thursday at University Hospital in Cincinnati at the age of 62.

Huff grew up in Ohio County and was a 1980 graduate of Rising Sun High School.

Upon earning her master’s degree from Xavier University, Huff became a 4th grade teacher at Switzerland County Elementary School.

In 2002, Huff went to work at Rising Sun-Ohio County Elementary School as Assistant Principal and Athletic Director. She remained in those positions until her retirement in 2021.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, October 9 from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at Markland Funeral Home in Rising Sun. Funeral services will follow.

Memorial donations may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital or the Lymphoma Society. www.marklandfuneralhome.com.
