Teke, a 1965 graduate from Lawrenceburg High School, served with the 1st Infantry in Vietnam with “B” Battery of the 1/7 Artillery. Aside from Teke’s sacrifices in Vietnam, he has spent many years recognizing others who serve or have served in the military. Teke was instrumental in bringing the Moving Wall to Lawrenceburg, which is a half-size replica of the Vietnam Veterans Memorial in Washington, D.C. He also helped with the Veterans Tower on the riverfront in Rising Sun, as well as the project for the memorial at the Dearborn County Courthouse. On several occasions, Teke was the man who brought Congressional Medal of Honor Recipient Sammy Davis to the local area to help with special dedications, programs, and to talk with students. To cap off the Quilt of Valor presentation, Teke was surprised with a phone call from Sammy Davis and his wife, Dixie.
