It was a very successful year, ever, funding $220,000 for local partner organizations.

(Southeast Indiana) - The United Way of Southeastern Indiana concluded 2024 with one of its most successful years ever, funding $220,000 for local partner organizations.

The UW provided operational funding for the Clearinghouse food pantry, One Community One Family, Safe Passage, New Horizons, SIEOC for Project Uplift, the YES Home, and others. The area’s largest nonprofit social services agency also prepared 62 tax returns for free, bringing back $60,000 to our local economy. Project Uplift continued to thrive and grow, serving 20 households, 75 individuals, even bringing one resident out of homelessness and assisting others with utilities and avoiding eviction. The 2024 capital campaign netted more than $50,000 donated dollars with sizable contributions from employees at Ivy Tech Community College, Youth Encouragement Services, MGPI, Dearborn County Government, Siemer Milling, and Civista Bank. Additionally, the UW funds the 211 Hotline, supports Coats for Kids, Cops and Kids, Toys for Tots, and is launching additional programs to strengthen our local Early Learning network including the Building Blocks program with local daycare providers, making available additional slots for at-risk preschoolers.

Additionally, the UW supported the YES Home in earning a $200,000 grant to support badly needed renovations through the IUW Capital Grants program.

The United Way also engaged the community at the Lawrenceburg Community Picnic, Greendale Night Out, the Ivy Tech Health Fair, delivering Sacks of Snacks during school breaks, and offering Care Bags filled with personal hygiene and cleaning supplies at local libraries and Blessing Boxes.

Also, members of the United Way Action Council participated in Statehouse Day in January, meeting with our local representatives to voice concerns and strengthen partnerships.

UW Director Karen Snyder said, “So many great people worked together this past year to make a real impact in Southeastern Indiana. We are blessed to have such a strong support system for folks who are less fortunate.”

The United Way is the nation’s largest nonprofit social services organization, providing wraparound support to those in need. Founded in 1887 in Denver, Colorado as the Community Chest then as the United Fund, the UW now helps families throughout the country and around the world with practical, on the ground, grass roots assistance.
