Dexter Helton.
(Erlanger, Ky.) - The man shot by police in Erlanger on Wednesday evening remains in critical condition at UC Medical Center.
Kentucky State Police identify the suspect shot by officers as Dexter Helton, 40, of Florence.
Two Erlanger Police officers came to Peecox Bar and Grill on Donaldson Highway to arrest Helton on a warrant. He fled out of the restaurant.
As police were giving chase, Helton was shot as he drew a firearm and pointed it at the officers, said KSP spokesman Charles Loudermilk.
He was shot by at least one officer, but investigators are still accounting for bullets and magazines from the scene. A handgun belonging to Helton was recovered, investigators said.
State police say Helton was wanted on a possession of methamphetamine warrant issued last February.
