Kentucky State Police Investigate Fatal Collision in Gallatin County

The two-vehicle accident occurred on Saturday night.

(Gallatin County, Ky.) - One person suffered fatal injuries and another was injured on Saturday night in Gallatin County. 

Kentucky State Police are investigating a two vehicle crash that took place around 8:18 p.m. on KY Highway 1039 near the intersection of Knox Lillard Road. 

The preliminary investigation indicates that a 2007 Chrysler minivan was traveling north on Highway 1039 when for an unknown reason it crossed the center line and struck a 2001 Chevy Tahoe that was traveling south.  

The operator of the Chrysler, identified as 18 year old Kyle Jones of Ghent, was pronounced deceased on scene.  

The operator of the Chevrolet,  identified as 20 year old Andrew Heichelbech of Owenton was transported by helicopter to the hospital as a result of the injuries he sustained.

This is an ongoing investigation being conducted by Kentucky State Police Post 5.
