(Oldenburg, Ind.) - Oldenburg Academy educator Jason Walke has been named as one of five IU Alumni to be a part of the 2025 Jacobs Educator Cohort.

Each year, Indiana University’s School of Education recognizes educators who are integrating technology into their classrooms in innovative ways and invites them to join a cohort.

The selection was made after a competitive application process where teaching strategies were evaluated. Mr. Walke’s teaching utilizes technology to enhance the classroom learning environment and to stimulate discussion. Specifically, Walke was selected based on his use of virtual reality for immersive historical experiences, video conferencing to connect guest speakers and his students, and instructional time lecturing on the ethical use of artificial intelligence. Overall, Mr. Walke leverages technology to deepen learning and make educational connections.

As part of the 2025 cohort, Walke will have the opportunity to collaborate with other educators and IU faculty throughout the next year where they will share strategies, develop best practices, and expand their use of educational technology.

"It is an honor to be selected as part of the Jacobs Cohort for 2025," said Mr. Walke, "I look forward to sharing ideas and spending time with other teachers and IU faculty who share the same passion for integrating technology in the classroom. Having access to our world's evolving technology has allowed me to create engaging lesson plans that connect with students and to be a more efficient and effective educator. I am excited to hear about my cohort's creative applications and to learn about new developments."

The Jacobs Educator Award Program is funded through a gift from Don and Pat Jacobs and aims to bridge the gap between research and practice by bringing together teachers and IU faculty
