(Osgood, Ind.) - A new coach will hope to guide Jac-Cen-Del High School Eagles basketball to new heights. Travis Stangland has been selected as the high school’s new boys varsity hoops coach, JCD athletic director Mark Meyer said Thursday. He succeeds former coach Perry Nash. “We’re tickled to have Travis and look forward to the coming season,” Meyer said. Last season, Stangland served as an assistant varsity and head junior varsity head coach at Kokomo High School. The Wildkats varsity team went 10-13 on the season. Prior to that in 2013-2014, he was head coach at West Central High School going 7-13. He also coached junior varsity at Rushville High School for four years. Stangland is a northern Indiana native. He graduated from Columbia City High School. He was a track and field student athlete – high jump and long jump – while an undergrad at Ball State University. Meyer says Stangland will also teach business and computer classes at the Jac-Cen-Del High School. Former Eagles head coach Perry Nash vacated the JCD job to become the new varsity coach at Triton Central High School. The move puts his work closer to his home in Shelbyville, Meyer said. “Perry did a great job here and in building up our feeder program,” said Meyer, adding that it was a tough decision for Nash. Nash was 28-20 in his two seasons as head coach at Jac-Cen-Del. He takes over a Triton Central Tigers team that went 21-4 last season. Not a bad seat. pic.twitter.com/jBfjkmivJU
