The incident occurred during the early morning hours of September 29
(Laurel, Ind.) - Early Tuesday morning, Detectives from the Indiana State Police-Versailles Post began investigating a shooting that occurred at a residence near Laurel.
The incident resulted in a man being sent to a Cincinnati area hospital for treatment.
The initial investigation by Indiana State Police Detectives indicated that, shortly before 5:00 am this morning, an adult male attempted to gain entry into a residence in the 25000 Block of Chapel Road. An adult male homeowner inside the residence fired at least one shot from a firearm that struck the male attempting to gain entry.
The injured man was transported to University of Cincinnati Medical Center with injuries not believed to be life threatening.
The investigation remains ongoing, however investigators believe the two involved men knew each other and that this was not a random incident. No arrests have been made at this time.
The names of the men are not being released pending the outcome of the investigation.
The Franklin County Sheriff’s Department and Letts EMS assisted at the scene.
