(Walton, Ky.) - An investigation is ongoing after an unidentified suspect pointed a handgun at a Boone County Sheriff's deputy.
The incident occurred early Sunday morning during a drug investigation in a parking lot off Mary Grubbs Highway in Walton.
According to the Boone County Sheriff's Office, deputies asked the male occupant to exit the vehicle. As the male subject exited the vehicle, he pointed a handgun in the face of one deputy.
The deputy reacted quickly by deflecting the hand of the suspect away from his face as he fell to the ground. The suspect then pointed the firearm at a sergeant on scene as he fled on foot.
The suspect was picked up by another vehicle in the area, and deputies were unable to continue their pursuit.
No gunshots were fired during the incident, but one deputy sustained minor injuries after falling to the ground.
The names of those involved are being withheld at this time.
