WLWT-TV Photo (Cincinnati, Oh.) - A team of engineers will join the investigation into this week's deadly bridge collapse on Interstate 75 in Cincinnati. Federal investigators say the experts will help determine if materials in the Hopple Street overpass were faulty or mistakes were made during construction or demolition. A traffic camera video of the Monday night bridge collapse is also being looked at for clues by investigators from the Cincinnati Police Department and the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA). Kokosing Construction Co. was the contractor in charge of the old bridge removal. The company is also conducting an investigation. Wednesday also brought word of a second construction worker on the span. The Hamilton County coroner told The Cincinnati Enquirer the worker was in a backhoe that fell with steel beams on top of construction worker Brandon Carl. An initial autopsy shows Carl – a 35-year-old father of four from Augusta, Kentucky employed by Kokosing Construction – died instantly of blunt force trauma from the "catastrophic pancake" collapse. The Ohio Department of Transportation says previously planned nightly closures on I-75 will continue as planned. Bridge work will require nightly full closures of northbound Interstate 75 between the Mitchell Avenue and Norwood Lateral interchanges through Saturday, January 24. The closure is scheduled from 11:00 p.m. to 5:00 a.m. each night, weather permitting. The detour is northbound I-75 to westbound I-74 to eastbound I-275 to northbound I-75.
