HVL Deputy Hospitalized After Investigating Suspicious Package

Hidden Valley residents are being asked to exercise caution if they see something suspicious.

(Hidden Valley, Ind.) – A Hidden Valley Lake deputy was hospitalized after investigating a suspicious substance found on a resident’s porch.

HVL Lead Deputy Dave Wismann says a deputy responded to a report of a drug package found on the porch of a Heather Court home at around 2:45 Sunday afternoon. The item had reportedly been brought by a dog from some nearby woods.

Soon after investigating, the deputy began to experience some symptoms. He was taken to the hospital and released.

Wismann noted that the deputy never touched the package, which is currently being tested to determine what it consisted of.

The deputy is expected to be back on duty this week.

“Please exercise caution if you see something suspicious,” said Wismann.
