(Southeast Indiana) - Here in Southeast Indiana, we’re rolling out the welcome mat with a variety of fun holiday celebrations planned for this first weekend of December.

Lawrenceburg’s Winter Wonderland Celebration

Visit Downtown Lawrenceburg for an afternoon of holiday cheer, with activities scheduled this Saturday, December 6 from 11am-2pm. In addition to the Holiday Parade & PAWS Pet Parade starting at 12:30pm on the streets of downtown, visitors can enjoy lots of holiday fun in Civic Park, including kids’ activities, Mr. & Mrs. Claus, live ice carving, elves on stilts and balloon twisting, face painting and caricatures, cookies and hot chocolate, and more.

Strap on your skates and hit the ice! Downtown Lawrenceburg’s Winter Wonderland Ice Rink has moved to a new location this year and is now open for the season. Located at the Civic Park Pavilion on 127 Short St., the covered rink offers a low admission fee (including skate rental) of $8 for adults, $6 for children 12-and-under, and free for children under 4. The rink will be open this Saturday and Sunday from 12-8pm, weather permitting.

A new holiday tradition is waiting for you in Lawrenceburg! Just in time for the season, Light Up Newtown Park features hundreds of lit Christmas trees adorning the historic park along U.S. 50. Organized by the Dearborn County Historical Society, this first-annual event will kick off with a special lighting ceremony planned for December 6 starting at 5pm. Come see the park filled with trees, each beautifully-decorated and sponsored by families, organizations, businesses, and not-for-profit organizations located throughout the community.

Celebrate the holidays in Aurora, Indiana, where “Miracle on Main Street” is the theme of the season. Organized by Main Street Aurora, the event takes place every weekend in December (through December 21) in the city’s historic downtown district. This weekend, enjoy Breakfast with Santa on December 6 (reservations required), live reindeer and free carriage rides from 1-4pm on December 7, tours of Hillforest Museum’s Victorian Christmas exhibit on both Saturday and Sunday (including their Annual Holiday Gift to the Community free open house on Sunday), and more.

Join the community of Dillsboro for a “Hometown Christmas” complete with all the trimmings! Planned for December 6, the all-day event features a Christmas Winter Market at Dillsboro Elementary, plus activities in Downtown Dillsboro, including photos with Santa & Mrs. Claus, band and choir performances, a magician, crafts and kids’ activities, holiday open houses at area businesses, lighted Christmas parade, Christmas costume contest, and lots more family fun.
