Highpoint Health To Host Women's Health & Wellness Expo

The free event allows women ages 18 and older to receive health screenings.

(Lawrenceburg, Ind.) - You won’t want to miss this year’s Highpoint Health Women’s Health & Wellness Expo on Thursday, October 3, from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at the Lawrenceburg Event Center, 91 Walnut Street. This free event is the perfect opportunity for women ages 18 and older to receive health screenings, as well as to talk with Highpoint Health’s expert providers about a wide variety of health and wellness issues.

The Expo also will feature a special boutique highlighting local merchants and their products. Door prizes such as an overnight hotel stay, fine dining gift certificate and spa manicure will be given away throughout the event.

“Highpoint Health initiated the Expo to encourage women to be more pro-active in achieving and then maintaining good health,” noted Nancy Kennedy, M.D., Highpoint Health Chief Medical Officer. “Some of the most important things a woman can do to stay healthy is to see her healthcare provider on a regular basis and take advantage of any recommended health screenings and health education programs.”

Screenings for blood pressure, body mass, anemia, diabetes/blood sugar, total and HDL cholesterol and pulmonary function will be offered at the Expo.

Vascular screening vouchers will be available at the Expo for use by appointment at a later date. Quick, painless and non-invasive, a vascular screening assists in the detection of vascular disease, a leading cause of death in the United States. The screening includes checks for abdominal aortic aneurysms, peripheral arterial disease and carotid artery stenosis (stroke risk). Those attending the Expo may pick up a vascular screening voucher.  This voucher will allow them to receive the screening for the special price of $29 when they schedule their screening at a later date.

In addition to screenings, a wide variety of women’s health information will be available. Highpoint Health personnel along with St. Elizabeth Healthcare and OrthoCincy Orthopaedics & Sports Medicine representatives will provide information on numerous health topics including:

  • aesthetic and reconstructive surgery
  • orthopedics
  • cancer
  • diabetes
  • genetic testing
  • heart disease
  • menopause management
  • osteoporosis
  • mental health
  • nutrition
  • prenatal care
  • substance abuse
  • insurance assistance
  • hospice care

Local community centers will offer information about their health and fitness opportunities.

The Women’s Health & Wellness Expo Boutique provides the perfect opportunity for early holiday shopping. Boutique exhibitors will offer a wide array of specialty merchandise including herbal soaps, essential oils and local honey, as well as seasonal and decorative items.

Highpoint Health’s Women’s Health & Wellness Expo is held annually in cooperation with the Dearborn County Chamber of Commerce Women of Distinction Luncheon. Each year, the luncheon celebrates the contributions women have made to Dearborn County and recognizes honorees for their specific achievements.
