(Lawrenceburg, Ind.) - It is Red Kettle season.

The Salvation Army is once again collecting donations to help families in need this holiday season.

"With more people facing hardship this year, the need to serve those most vulnerable is greater, said Bob Northcutt. "Our ability to raise vital funds to serve those in need this Christmas and beyond is at risk due to the impact of COVID-19."

Red Kettles have been placed at the entrances to Walmart in Aurora and Kroger in Lawrenceburg. The kettles are equipped with Apple and Google Pay.

Donations may also be sent directly to the Salvation Army C/O, SIEOC, P.O. Box 240, Aurora, IN 47001.

Ninety percent of donations stay local and help provide essential gifts of food, shelter and hope this holiday season.

Last year, the Salvation Army was able to assist of 470 local individuals.
