Head-On Crash Hospitalized Two Drivers

A man and woman were injured in the Tuesday evening crash on State Road 229.

(Franklin County, Ind.) - Two people were hospitalized after a crash on State Road 229 between Batesville and Oldenburg Tuesday night.

A Chrysler 200 driven by Joan Laughlin, 83, of Oldenburg, went left of center on State Road 229 about a half-mile north of Pocket Road around 6:00 p.m. The wayward Chrysler struck head-on a Ford Focus driven by Patrick Wilber, 33, of Sunman.

Both drivers were taken to Margaret Mary Health in Batesville with injuries.

The Franklin County Sheriff’s Department is investigating the crash. Deputies were assisted at the scene by Batesville Police Department, Oldenburg Police Department, Oldeburg Fire, Batesville Fire and Rescue 10.
