Great Parks' Winter Hike Series Returns in New Year

(Hamilton County, Oh.) - Great Parks will showcase the beauty of its winter landscapes as the popular Winter Hike Series returns to visit five destinations throughout Hamilton County in January and February. The series includes a mix of educational and challenging hikes, ranging from 4 to 5.5 miles. All hikes will explore the natural history and unique features of the parks they visit.

Great Parks is offering a variety of hiking groups for people to choose from, including standard hikes, leisurely strolls, fast paced challenges, family experiences for children ages 5-10 and more. All hikes end with a bowl of warm soup, a cookie and camaraderie with other hikers. Hikers will receive a button with room for stickers to commemorate each registered hike throughout the series.

Hikes are on Saturdays starting at 10 a.m., with a cost of $10/hike for each person. Hikes will explore five Great Parks destinations, including:

  • Jan. 10 at Winton Woods
  • Jan. 17 at Sharon Woods
  • Jan. 24 at Woodland Mound
  • Jan. 31 at Shawnee Lookout
  • Feb. 7 at Miami Whitewater Forest

Accessible hikes are available at Winton Woods and Miami Whitewater Forest on paved multi-use trails. Participants requesting an accessible hike should call 513-521-7575 at least five days in advance. More information about the Winter Hike Series is available at GreatParks.org.
