(Hamilton County, Oh.) - Great Parks will receive the largest funding award in its history, $8 million from the OKI Regional Council of Governments for phase one construction of the Oasis Trail.

The trail will be a 4.75-mile paved, shared-use trail from Lunken Airport to Sawyer Point, allowing cyclists, runners and walkers to connect from downtown Cincinnati to the 78-mile Little Miami Scenic Trail. It will also extend the Ohio River Trail west from its current terminus at Wilmer Avenue.

“Great Parks is extremely thankful to OKI for supporting our work to build the Oasis Trail, which will truly benefit communities and trail users throughout the region by adding a new significant and safe link to downtown Cincinnati,” said Todd Palmeter, Great Parks CEO. “Building more trails is the top priority the public established for us in development of our Comprehensive Master Plan, and we are grateful for the backing from OKI and our project partners from the City of Cincinnati and Metro to help us add critical trail expansions and connections for our community.”

The total estimated cost of construction for all phases of this project is over $16 million. Great Parks is currently focusing on design and engineering for the trail, with construction anticipated to start in 2027.
