(Switzerland County, Ind.) - Area residents are being asked to contribute to a GoFundMe to assist a Switzerland County family that lost their home earlier this month.

A fire broke out at the home of Amanda Meyer on January 15.

The fire resulted in the Meyer's losing nearly everything they had, which has caused them to start from scratch.

According to the GoFundMe page, the Meyer's are insured and are receiving a settlement, but insurance does not cover everything. The fundraiser aims to ease the financial strain.

Meyer is teacher at Switzerland County Elementary School. Her and her husband have six children.
