(Batesville, Ind.) - The Batesville Fire Department reminds residents and business owners that snow and ice can quickly obstruct fire hydrants.

In an emergency, unobstructed access to hydrants is critical and can save valuable time. Your assistance ensures hydrants near your home or business remain accessible by:

  • Clearing at least three (3) feet around the hydrant
  • Ensuring the hydrant is clearly visible from the roadway
  • Keeping caps and valves free of snow and ice

Your cooperation plays an important role in helping us protect lives and property throughout the winter season.
